Did you know?

Did you know that every time you practice chi kung you are sending information about your safety to your brain?

Your brain is constantly assessing your internal and external environments for signs of threat.  The most basic question that your nervous system is asking is “Am I safe?”.

Modern life has us on the move, under stress and pressure.  The oldest parts of the brain that are attuned to our survival have no idea that the stress we’re encountering is a ‘perceived’ threat rather than an actual physical, about to be attacked by a sabre toothed tiger type threat.

When we practice slow gentle movements, with deep, easy breaths we’re telling our brain that we are safe.  The message we’re sending is that everything is ok and the more we do this the more the brain can come out of the flight or fight response, it can stop gearing up to face the threat and release resources to repair and rejuvenate us instead.
