Laughter Meditation is an easy and simple method to restore balance within self. Here are a few benefits that you will experience in this session:
Presence – Laughter meditation is an opportunity for you to slow down and experience the present moment. Your smartphones will be put away, so no distractions. All you are required to do is LAUGH. Once you become aware of your body while laughing—how your belly moves in and out, or your head moves side to side—you become aware of your surroundings and ground yourself in the present moment.
Lightness – There are problems that surround each and every person; be it at work, at home, one can easily slip into the belief that you need to take life seriously. Which may translate to taking yourself too seriously. Which may create beliefs of feeling unsafe and experiences of anxiety, stress and worry.
There is a COST when we do not give ourselves the opportunity to experience pleasure, fun, lightness. When you begin to laugh, it is very difficult to take anything too seriously. Hence, giving you the opportunity to feel the lightness and move your “adult” ways aside and simply enjoy the element of fun.
Connection – Laughter meditation provides an opportunity to truly connect and celebrate joy with another in a fun, meaningful way. If you have not does this before, it may be slightly intimidating at first to laugh with complete strangers, but as soon as you enter the meditation space you will realise it is very easy and everyone else is just like you.
Stress Reduction – Anxiety, stress, worry steals our joy from life, it emotionally sabotages any effort you make to live a balanced, peaceful, and harmonious life. There are many ways you can combat anxiety, including medication, exercise, and mindfulness, but an easy and often overlooked method is laughing.
Science has proven that laughing can actually alter dopamine and serotonin activity in your brain, offering a simple option for overcoming stress and depression.
Emotional Release – Emotions are not meant to stay bottled up. With Laughter Meditation it is easy for individuals to access buried emotions. By just focusing on laughing, you’re concentrating on the release of a major emotion, which can open the door to other major emotions like sadness, anger, and fear. At the end of your laughter meditation practice, take some time for stillness and silence. Be open to what comes up, including other emotions. This can be a powerful way to deal with underlying thoughts and feelings that you may not realize you have or have gone unnoticed (either intentionally or unintentionally). Please Note T&C’s:
