What is it? Mindfulness meditation involves paying attention in a particular way to one’s physical, emotional, and mental experiences moment by moment. There is scientific evidence supporting the benefits of mindfulness meditation to help manage stress and anxiety, improve memory and attention, boost the immune system, help regulate emotions, manage pain, and promote a general sense of well-being.
What to expect? It’s an opportunity to practice 45 minutes of guided mindfulness meditation in a group setting. This is not group therapy. Different meditations will be introduced each week. The last 15 minutes of the session will be dedicated to questions and discussion about the practice. The sessions will draw primarily on the meditations taught in the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn, PhD.
How should I dress? Wear loose fitting comfortable clothing, bring socks or a shawl as the room may be cool.
