Method in the Madness
We live in an abstract world with diverse people who have varying thoughts and different ways of living. Whether we realise it or not, we all believe that things should be done in a “certain way”. We should dress a certain way, do things a certain way, and live a certain lifestyle and this “abstractness” of life is something our minds can’t seem to understand.
There is a deep desire within all of us to constantly be in control, control of our environment, our emotions, and our behaviour. We struggle with letting go of this control. We have to be in control all the time because being in control is what makes us feel safe, steady and secure.
The truth of life is that we are actually never in control. We do everything we can in our power to make ourselves feel and believe that we are, but actually we are not. Uncertainty is all around us. We cannot run away from it. We don’t need to run away from it. What we need to do instead is stop fearing the unknown, the uncertain future of our lives. When we fear the unknown and are not in control of our future we are instantly taken over by a feeling of insecurity and instability. We simply do not feel safe.
As humans our primal feeling is that of safety and security. We are to have within us this deep feeling of safety no matter what situation we may be in.
So, how do we do this? How do we feel stable, safe and fearless? One way to start is by thinking about what is it that you don’t want to lose. What is the worst that could happen? Sit back, close your eyes, take a few deep breaths and think about what you’re truly fearful of? Being alone? Not trusting the people around you? Or not have enough money to support your self? Losing all that you have or have you have ever known? Breath out all the stress, worry and fear and allow your mind to become calm, become mindful about your situation, just watch, observe and breath it all out and within this calmness, you will find the wisdom, the answer and once you realise the learning from this situation, you notice the fear is now replaced by a deep sense of inner peace and understanding.
There is actually nothing to control. There is no struggle. There is no threat. There is no loss. There is just being in this existence and understanding its truths. In this realisation you see that there is no method we could possibility create in this madness and there truly is no need to. You are fine. You are safe. Just sit back, relax and enjoy the show.
