Emotional Freedom Technique, sometimes known as ‘tapping’, combines modern knowledge of the psychology of trauma and the long-term harm it causes with ancient knowledge of the body.
In an Emotional Freedom Technique session, you or your therapist will tap on points on your face and body with fingertips while you are focusing on a memory or a feeling, which may be a remembrance of a traumatic experience or a symptom of the stress you are currently feeling that is trapped in your body and requires to be released.
These meridian points that are tapped on have been used in acupuncture and acupressure for more than 3000 years, and have been used to treat all kinds of physical, mental and emotional ailments, including anxiety, fears, phobias, anger and addiction.
Often described as a kind of emotional acupuncture, but without needles, Emotional Freedom Techniques also uses affirmations and positive talk therapy to direct intended outcomes, and can help you resolve any underlying emotional issues you may have, or enhance your emotional health to make you the best version of yourself.
